Raw honey, engineered by bees.

We keep bees in Stanwood and bottle what they make — unheated, strained, and never blended with anything else. One ingredient, one harvest a year, sold by the jar.

One harvest. One ingredient.

Everything on this page comes from a single pull, so the color and flavor are specific to this year — next year's will be its own thing. When it's gone, it's gone until the next harvest.

Backyard hives.

The Honey Engineer is a small operation in Stanwood, Washington. Beekeeping here goes back three generations — my father keeps bees, and his grandfather kept bees before him.

There's one harvest a year, and the bees come first. Whatever the hive needs to get through the winter stays on the hive; we bottle what's left over. That's the whole reason there's a single harvest instead of a standing inventory — some years the surplus is generous, some years it isn't.

Everything is bottled by hand. Nothing is ultra-filtered and nothing is blended with honey from somewhere else, so what's in the jar is what the bees made this year. Raw honey crystallizes eventually — that's a sign it's real, not a defect. Set the jar in warm water and it comes right back.

Bring the jar back.

Return one of our jars from a previous order and we'll take $1 off your next one. Mention it when you email or text, and we'll work it into the total.

It needs to be clean and undamaged — hot soapy water is plenty. A jar that's chipped or cracked can't be refilled, so those we can't take back. Lids are welcome but not required.
